PK Pujari, power secretary, has been given the additional charge as telecom secretary. He succeeds JS Deepak, who has been transferred to Geneva to head India’s WTO mission.

PK Purwar has been appointed as chairman and MD of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL).

Vodafone-Idea merged entity will be headed by Kumar Mangalam Birla as its chairman. Vodafone will have its nominee Vittorio Colao as the CFO.

Sudhin Mathur has been appointed as MD of Motorola Mobility India. He succeeds Amit Boni.

Prakash Mallya has been appointed as MD of Intel for South Asia. He succeeds Debjani Ghosh who will step down by the end of next month to work on projects for Digital India initiative.

Aicha S. Evans has been appointed as CSO, Intel Corporation.

Dr James H. Thompson, EVP of engineering, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., has been appointed to the additional position of CTO. Matt Grob, EVP, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and CTO, will transition to the role of EVP of technology.

Bruce Davie has been appointed as VP and CTO of VMware Asia-Pacific and Japan.

Karen Rapp has been appointed as CFO of National Instruments commencing May 9.

Yin Yimin has been appointed as chairman of ZTE Corporation. The outgoing chairman Zhao Xianming will continue to hold his position as executive director and president of the company.

Panasonic Corporation has named Tom Gebhardt, currently president of Peachtree City, GA-based Panasonic Automotive Systems Company, to succeed Joseph M. Taylor as chairman and CEO of Panasonic Corporation of North America based in Newark, NJ.

Dr Lih Shyng Tsai has been appointed as co-CEO, MediaTek. He will also assume responsibility as VC of the Mediatek Group.  At the same time, Dr. Tsai is nominated to be on the Board of Directors.

Mark Mathews has been appointed as VP, North American commercial marketing, Epson America Inc. In addition, he leads Epson’s Canada-based technical support and development team focused on point-of-sale solutions.

Pierre Samson has been appointed as VP-sales and operations, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise APAC region.

PROMOTED

EXFO Inc. has promoted COO Philippe Morin to the position of CEO. Germain Lamonde, the company’s founder, chairman of the board and, until April 1, CEO, will become executive chairman of the company.

Siddharth Banerjee, marketing chief at Vodafone has been promoted as EVP- marketing and head of brand, insights, media, activation and digital at Vodafone India.

Comcast Cable has promoted COO Dave Watson to the role of CEO, replacing Neil Smit, who is now vice chairman of the Comcast group.

Vikram Kirloskar has been elected as the chairman-Southern Region, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the period
2017-18.
