  • In-Flight Connectivity Recommendations

    The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) through its letter dated August 10, 2017 had communicated that there is a proposal to introduce in-flight connectivity (IFC) for voice, data, and video services over the Indian airspace for domestic, international, and overflying flights in the Indian Air Space.

  • Comments Invited for PPDR Communication Networks

    The TRAI had invited comments/counter comments of stakeholders on a consultation paper Next Generation Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) Communication Networks dated October 9, 2017.

  • Consultation Paper on Captive VSAT CUG Policy Issues

    The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has started a comprehensive review of various fee and charges related to captive VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) licenses, including entry fee, license fee, royalty charges and bank guarantee. The consultation paper ‘ Captive VSAT CUG (Closed User Group) Policy issues ‘ also seeks to remove the difference in license fee for operating two hubs (earth stations that control and monitor activities of remote terminals).

  • Recommendations on Net Neutrality

    Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released its recommendations on Net Neutrality. These recommendations are the result of a long, multistage consultation process. On March 27, 2015, TRAI had issued a consultation paper titled Regulatory Framework for Over-the-Top Service. Apart from issues relating to Over-the-Top (OTT) service, this consultation paper also touched upon issues related to net neutrality.
