X down for thousands of users in the US and UK, Downdetector shows

Elon Musk-owned X experienced a sudden outage, with users across India and other countries reporting difficulties accessing the social media platform, according to Downdetector.com.

Users attempting to use the platform encountered issues logging in, refreshing their feeds, and posting updates, as complaints surged on the tracking website.

The social media website was ‌back up for thousands of users in the U.S. and U.K. after the short outage, Downdetector.com, a website performance tracking tool, informed. At its peak, there were around ‌40,000 reports of issues ‌with the social media platform in the U.S., according to Downdetector, before coming down to around 730 reports as ‌of 10:47 a.m. EST (1547 GMT).

Reports in the U.K. peaked at more than 11,000 ‌at 8:35 a.m. EST, according to the website, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources.

Since the numbers ‌are based on user-submitted reports, the actual number of affected users may vary.

According to data from Downdetector, about 3,357 users in India reported issues. Of these, 46% experienced website issues, and 45% experienced application issues. A 9% share of users reported issues refreshing the X feed.

Likewise, the outages spiked across the United States at 7 p.m. with 41,369 reports. Within about an hour of the problem reports, while X services appeared to be restored for many users, the company is yet to react to the same.

This came exactly a month after thousands of users reported issues with the social media platform. Around 2,00,000 people reported issues with X, Downdetector added.

Most problems reported on Downdetector (56%) were related to the X app, while 33% were related to the website and 10% cited a server connection, Variety reported.

Musk ‌recently announced that SpaceX has acquired his AI startup xAI. This announcement followed a move last year in which he folded X into xAI through a share ‌swap. The Hindu
