Import policy amended to bring flat panel display modules to “Free Category”

Government is focused on broadening and deepening the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector, thereby making India a global electronics manufacturing hub. The Mobile phones, IT hardware, Television sets are a few thrust areas wherein Government is promoting manufacturing. Against this backdrop, the flat panel display modules and certain cameras have been brought to ‘Free category’ from ‘Restricted category’ vide DGFT Notification No.55/2015-2020 dated 24th February, 2022 with immediate effect.

This shall bolster Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat for promoting domestic manufacturing of electronic products.
