Xiaomi Mi 8 Gets Android 9.0 Pie beta, MIUI 10 Rolling Out Redmi 6 Series

Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 9.0 Pie beta, which is based on MIUI 10 for its latest flagship device, the Mi 8. The company has also started rolling out stable MIUI 10 update for its Redmi 6 series, which was recently launched in India.

Starting with Mi 8 first, the company has announced this news on its official Twitter handle. The tweet reveals that the Android Pie beta update is now rolling out to Mi 8 users in China. Further, the update is only rolling out to those who have registered themselves in the Insider Beta programme.

The company has also announced the that the beta will be rolled out globally “later”. In order to check for the latest update, users can go to Settings > About Phone > System updates and check for the beta version. Users can also manually download the ROM on their computer and flash it on the latest Mi 8 smartphone. It is important to note that the Chinese version of MIUI does not come with Google Play services and it only supports English and Mandarin languages.

Moving on, Xiaomi has also started rolling out stable MIUI 10 update, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo to its Redmi 6 series, which includes Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro. According to a report by XDA Developers, the latest update brings a host of interesting features to the Redmi 6 series including redesigned users interface, AI camera features, gesture navigations and more. Apart from this, the Chinese stable MIUI 10 ROM is also available for Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi Mix 2s, Mi Note 2, Mi 6x and more.

For the unintended, Xiaomi offers four versions of its MIUI namely, China Stable, China Developer, Global Stable and Global Developer. While the China Stable version is currently rolling out to above-mentioned devices, there is no information on when the Global stable version will be rolled out to select Xiaomi smartphones. – The Mobile Indian
