Truecaller Appoints Flipkart’s Sandeep Patil As MD

Stockholm-headquartered caller ID and spam blocking app Truecaller on Wednesday said it had appointed Sandeep Patil as the managing director of its India operations. Patil will also be a part of the company’s global management team.

Former head of Flipkart’s consumer and commercial lending vertical, Patil will be based in Bengaluru, spearheading business strategies to expand Truecaller’s footprint and accelerate revenue growth globally.

He will also oversee Truecaller’s teams based in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the company said in a statement.

“We consider India our home market where we want to deepen our presence, engagement and relevance. I look forward to further strengthening our innovative organization and collaborating with the ecosystem to take Truecaller to greater heights,” Patil said.

Truecaller has more than 100 million daily active users in India. It started out as an online directory for mobile phone numbers and also expanded into payments space via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as well as instant messaging platform.

“Sandeep’s expertise and experience in consumer technology, financial services, and his strong global strategic experience will definitely help Truecaller fast track many of our ambitious plans and take it to the next level,” Alan Mamedi, chief executive officer and co-founder of Truecaller said.―Livemint
