TRAI Releases Consultation Paper For Registration Of OSPs

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued paper on Review of terms and conditions for registration of Other Service Providers (OSPs) for the consultation of stakeholders. An OSP is a company providing application services wherein applications services mean providing services like tele-banking, tele-medicine, tele-education, tele-trading, e-commerce, call center, network operation center, and other IT enabled services by using telecom resources provided by authorized telecom service providers.

This consultation paper is issued to review the terms and conditions of registration of OSPs issued by DoT on August 05, 2008 and amended subsequently from time to time. In this regard, a reference was received from DoT vide letter dated September 10, 2018 seeking recommendations of TRAI on review of terms and conditions for registration of OSPs. Accordingly, the Authority has initiated this consultation paper to review the terms and conditions for the registration of OSPs.

Written comments on the Consultation Paper have been invited from the stakeholders by April 29, 2019 by TRAI. Counter-comments to be submitted by May 13, 2019.―CT Bureau
