T-Mobile US Adds 1.3 Million Postpaid Customers In Q4

T-Mobile US added a net 1.9 million new customers in the fourth quarter, taking its total base to 86 million at year-end. The new additions included 1.3 million new postpaid customers, helping the company beat its full-year guidance with a total 4.5 million postpaid subscribers added in 2019.

The growth included 1.0 million new postpaid phone customers in Q4, similar to the year-earlier period and up from 754,000 added in Q3. This result reflects strong gross branded postpaid phone customer additions, up 5 percent year-over-year, in a very competitive environment, the company said. Postpaid phone churn was at 1.01 percent in the quarter, up from 0.89 percent in Q3 and 0.99 percent a year ago.

T-Mobile also added 77,000 prepaid customers in Q4, for a total of 339,000 net additions in the full year. Migrations to postpaid plans reduced prepaid net growth by approximately 160,000 in the fourth quarter and 525,000 for full-year 2019, T-Mobile said.

Wholesale net customer additions were 472,000 in the fourth quarter and 2.2 million for the full year.

T-Mobile will release full quarterly and annual results in February.―Telecompaper
