South Korean operator SK Telecom has unveiled its new business strategy. This is based on three key areas, namely expansion of 5G business models, strengthening global partnerships; and SK Telecom’s transformation into an ICT synergy company, Business Korea reports, citing the company’s president Park Jung-ho. The announcement was made at a seminar held at the Annex Hotel on Jeju Island on 5 September.
SK Telecom has expanded into cloud games, AR and VR services, smart factories and 5G clusters based on its 5G mobile network. The company has also recently signed partnership agreements with Microsoft for cloud games, Sinclair-Harman for ATSC 3.0 broadcast services, Deutsche Telecom for technological cooperation and Comcast for an e-sports joint venture, Park added.
SK Telecom’s plans to develop into an ICT synergy company and this year it reorganized its business portfolio into the AI, data analytics-based MNO, media, security and commerce businesses.―Telecompaper
