Satcom Industry set to address opportunities and challenges in post reform era

The Satellite Industry Association (SIA-India) is holding a 2 day ‘Space’ Conference on “Satcom Emerging Trends Post Reform Era” on 4th and 5th August 2021. Supported by ISRO, the conference is created to be a platform for key stakeholders to come together and deliberate upon the emerging trends & potential in the SpaceCom sector along with addressing the critical issues and challenges.

Spread over two days the virtual event will see leading industry luminaries, domestic and international, discuss topics such asEmerging Trends in SatCom, Capacity building and industrial collaborations, Space Startups connecting to International markets with emerging Business Models and Regulatory Challenges for Private Participation in Satellite Communication to name a few.

Senior Officials from DoT, DoS, ISRO, NSIL, other relevant Govt. Bodies, Law firms, Industry and academia have agreed to share their thoughts and expertise. Eminent speakers like Shri R Umamaheshwaran [Scientific Secretary-ISRO], Dr A S Kiran Kumar [former Chairman ISRO & Secretary Dept of Space] Shri D Radhakrishnan [Director-NSIL] Dr V S Hegde [Former Scientific Secretary and Former CMD-Antrix and Shri R Shakya, [DDG-Satellite, DOT] are expected to share their thoughts with other eminent domestic and international speakers.

The deliberations will take a deep dive into the key action points for all the stakeholders to provide that much awaited proverbial leap into space segment.  Post the event, SIA-India will come up with a ‘Conference report’ based on the expert opinion from Government, industry and Academia.

The Department of Space (DoS) has recently come out with the ‘Draft National Space Transportation Policy-2020’, there is also a committee to oversee the provisions of the Space Activities Bill with deliberations under way to finalise it.
