Russian Village Wi-Fi Project Reaches Completion

Russian Direct Investment Fund RDIF and Mubadala Investment Company have announced the completion of a project to eliminate the digital divide in villages, reports Prime. The project has been carried out in cooperation with national operator Rostelecom since 2014.

A total of 11,100 Wi-Fi hotspots have been deployed under the project in villages in 83 regions across the country. More than 85,000 km of fibre-optic lines have been built for this purpose and 3.2 million residents can now access broadband networks.―Telecompaper
