Reliance Jio To Users: We Are Not Asking For 6 Paise Per Minute

The battle between Reliance Jio and other operators like Vodafone Idea , Airtel may have cooled down after Jio announced that it will charge its users 6 paise per minute. However, the war, it seems is still on. But on different battle ground. After Airtel and Vodafone Idea took jibe at Jio on social media for new charges, the telecom operator is hitting back in its own style.

In a series of tweets, Reliance Jio made pun on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, individually. In these tweets, the telco appears to be accusing other operators of asking for money from Jio users for inter-operator calls. ‘Every time a Jio customer makes an outgoing call mobile to other operator’s customer, 6 paise/minute is paid to the other operator as Interconnect Usage Charge (IUC), as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Regulations’, reads images as tweeted by Reliance Jio. Images shared in these tweets were interestingly colour matched with the brand’s colour.

Hitting at Idea, Jio posted ‘Zero IUC; this idea can change your life’ along with an image reading ‘6 paise per minute… why this idea, sirji?’.

The company targeted Vodafone by writing ‘Happy to charge?…6 per paise per minute…Woh-duh fone to you

Making pun on Airtel, Reliance Jio wrote in a tweet ‘Who’s taking the toll?’ with an image reading ‘6 paise per minute… Air toll’.

In a separate tweet, Jio is seen informing its users that the company is not asking for any charge. In fact, it is other operators who are doing so. ‘We ain’t asking for it…They are’, it wrote in a Twitter post.

For those unaware, IUC charges are basically for the duration of time the phone is ringing when a number is dialled. IUC only applies when a voice call is made between two different operators and it doesn’t matter whether the other person receives the call or misses or disconnects it, the IUC charges gets bills.―Gadgets Now
