Reliance Communications Moves To Telecom Tribunal Against DoT Demand, Says Report
eliance Communications (RCom) has moved the telecom tribunal against the telecom department’s demand for spectrum usage charges of about Rs 3,000 crore.
The move by RCom could possibly delay its sale of spectrum to Reliance Jio and repayment to lenders, said the report citing a senior official at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
RCom did not respond to queries on the latest DoT demand.
RCom’s asset monetization plan includes sale of wireless assets such as spectrum and towers, lands to Reliance Jio Infocom and Canadian asset management firm Brookfield, respectively for amount worth Rs 18,000 crore.
Moreover, the debt-laden telecom company also needs to pay Rs 550 crore to Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson to settle debt disputes, failure of which may drag RCom into insolvency proceedings, the report said. – CNBC Tv 18
