Number of mobile internet connections decreases for three months

The number of active mobile internet connections in the country dropped for the third month in October to reach 12.62 crore, according to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission data.

The drop in the number was the highest in October.

According to the data, the number of mobile internet connections in the country was 12.63 crore in September.

The data showed that apart from mobile internet connections there were about 1.15 crore broadband connections in the country.

The number of broadband internet connections remained unchanged in October.

The number of total internet connections (mobile and broadband) in the country rose to its peak in July 2022 with 12.75 crore connections.

Since then, the figure has dropped by three lakh.

Though the number of internet connections declined, the number of mobile phone connections increased in October.

The number of mobile connections rose to 18.16 crore in October from 18.14 crore in the previous month.

Grameenphone saw a decline of 5 lakh in its connections, according to the BTRC.

The country’s leading mobile operator held about 8.14 crore connections in October.

Banglalink’s mobile connections climbed by nearly 9 lakh. Its connections stood at 3.92 crore.

Robi Axiata and Teletalk also saw decline in the numbers of mobile connections by 1 lakh and 30,000 respectively. Robi Axiata had 5.43 crore mobile connections and Teletalk had about 67 lakh mobile connections in October.

Of the four telecom operators operating in the country, none but Banglalink managed to strengthen its customer base in the month. New Agebd
