Mobile Connection Verifiers From Pune Held

In a first, the cyber cell of city police on Thursday arrested two employees of a mobile connection verification company from Pune for approving issuance of a duplicate sim card by skipping rules. The irregular act of the employees had enabled six fraudsters to steal Rs 82 lakh from different bank accounts of one Rameshkumar Shah of Shahibaug, Ahmedabad.

City cops arrested Preyes Annachatrey, 44, and Ganesh Dalvi, 29, both of Pune, for wrongful verification and approval of a duplicate sim card for Shah’s number. They run Aryan Imaging and Business Consultant Pvt Ltd in Pune. ACP Jitendra Yadav said six fraudsters have been arrested in the case and they had obtained a duplicate sim card for the complainant’s phone number by submitting a fake Aadhaar card. In this case, there was no proof that the complainant had intimated the mobile service provider of the loss of his sim card and the fact that he wanted a duplicate sim with the same number. “The accused were successful in obtaining the sim card as verification was not done according to norms. The Pune company holds a contract of document verification for mobile connections with the service provider,” Yadav said. He added that Dalvi had done the verification and Preyes had approved the issuance of the duplicate sim card.

Six fraudsters, Jan Mohammed Khalifa , Rajeshgiri Goswami, Matadin Sikarwar, Anil Tulsiram Joshi, Deepak Rupala and Arvind Patel were earlier arrested by the cyber cell in the case. “The accused confessed that they had obtained the duplicate sim card from Bhavani Communication and the documents were verified by Aryan Imaging and Business Consultancy Pvt Ltd in Pune,” Yadav added.―Times of India
