Masmovil Hits 6 Mln Mobile Customers, Adds 1 Mln This Year

Spanish telecommunications provider Masmovil, the country’s fourth largest network operator, has reached the milestone of 6 million mobile customers after adding 1 million at a rate of 100,000 a month this year alone. The company said it had 5.70 million mobile customers at the end of June, up 25 percent year on year, including 4.36 million on a postpay plan after successfully using its different brands (Masmovil, Yoigo, Pepephone and Llamaya) to target different market segments.

It has since added a further 300,000-plus clients, including 128,000 in June, when it accounted for 10.8 percent of the country’s mobile market, according to the latest official figures from regulator CNMC. Recent research from Telecompaper also confirmed that Masmovil was the only provider to show revenue growth in the second quarter of 2018.

Masmovil also had a total of 756,000 fixed broadband customers at the end of June, overtaking regional operator Euskaltel to become the country’s fourth largest operator in the fixed as well as the mobile segment.
