Jio Subscriber Base Crosses 280 Million

Reliance Jio has announced their user base in the Indian market has crossed 280 million subscribers. The telecom major has stated that they added 27.9 million users alone during the third quarter of FY 2018-19. For the last year, the user base of Reliance Jio had gone past 180 million in April last year.

Reliance Jio’s Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) figure stood at Rs. 130 a month for the quarter. Data usage was around 10.8GB per month on an average for Reliance Jio users while voice usage was around 794 minutes per month for one person.

Also, video consumption has also gone up. Reliance Jio posted a figure of 460 crore hours per month. The total wireless data traffic during the entire quarter was 864GB while the total voice traffic stood at 63,406 crores.

For the previous quarter, Reliance Jio had reported an ARPU figure which stood at Rs 131.7 per user when its entire user base stood at 252.3 million. The company had also reported total wireless data traffic of 771 crore GB and its voice traffic was around 53,379 crore minutes.

Mukesh Ambani, RIL chairman and managing director, stated in a release,”…We are similarly working on re-inventing the connectivity solutions market for Homes and Enterprise with our next generation FTTX services”.

He further added, “Our relentless focus is on creating platforms to truly transform the digital life of every citizen of India across connectivity, commerce, media and entertainment, financial services, agriculture, education and healthcare, which will further enhance productivity and economic prospects of our nation.”—Times Now
