Japanese Firms Get Ready For 5G

Major Japanese mobile phone carriers are developing services that use next-generation 5G networks. NTT Docomo, KDDI, and Softbank plan to introduce the technology on a trial basis starting next year.

5G-powered communication is expected to be about 10 times faster than the current technology, allowing for quicker data transfers.

The 3 firms plan to set up 5G networks at sports games and other live events. They’ll use them to send high-definition images to users in the crowd, which they say will enhance the viewing experience.

The companies also plan to test other ways to take advantage of the speedy communication made possible by 5G.

These include offsite operation of construction machinery and equipping ambulances with remote doctors. – NHK World
