Globe Telecom expands connectivity with new towers in Cebu province
The Ayala Group’s Globe Telecom Inc. has launched new telecommunications towers in critical regions of Cebu province, enhancing internet connectivity and fostering local economic growth.
The new infrastructure is strategically positioned in Danao City, Cordova Municipality, Naga City, Toledo City, and Cebu City.
Joel Agustin, Globe SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering, said “These new towers in Cebu Province highlight our dedication to community empowerment, economic development, and local business support.”
“We believe that robust connectivity is fundamental to progress, and we are honored to contribute to the advancement of these vibrant communities,” Agustin added.
Globe continues to expand its network across Cebu and the nation, ensuring comprehensive connectivity for businesses and residents in today’s digital era.
In the first half of 2024, Globe added 352 new cell towers and upgraded 1,942 existing mobile sites to LTE technology.
Additionally, the company rolled out 39,880 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines from January to June, significantly enhancing its high-speed fiber internet services.
Globe’s network expansion also includes efforts in underserved areas, having connected over 500 Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). This initiative helps bridge the digital divide, allowing residents in remote areas to access essential online services, educational resources, and economic opportunities previously constrained by geographic limitations.
