Equinox upbeat on Indian operations

I’m excited about the enormous opportunity for Equinix as we expand our presence to support our customers in their digital transformation efforts in this rapidly growing market, said Charles J Meyers, chief executive officer, Equinix.

Equinix’s first entry into India was announced in August 2020. The company acquired the Indian operations of GPX Global Systems, by buying its two data centers in Mumbai for $161 million in September 2021.

Its plans to invest $86 million and build a third data centre in Mumbai, set up another facility in Chennai for which 5.5 acres is already acquired and set up an IT Centre of Excellence in India.

Manoj Paul, who previously led the India operation of GPX is the managing director of Equinix India.
