C-CAMP partner with Huawei India to supply medical support to Karnataka Govt

As Covid-19 continues to blight India, the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) last month partnered with technology company Huawei to accelerate the facilitation of urgent medical supplies to support those most affected.

With rampant oxygen shortages across the country, the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India, has provided guidance to the initiative.

This saw the delivery of 200 oxygen concentrators, 15 HFNC CPAP oxygen therapy systems, and 200 remote monitoring units.

Welcoming the deployment of aid, Aswath Narayan C.N., Honourable Deputy CM of Karnataka, said, “In association with C-CAMP, Huawei India AVP Nathan handed over 200 oxygen concentrators to the Govt. These will be distributed equally between 40 constituencies.”

“We also launched innovative solutions, developed by C-CAMP to tackle Covid-19.”

As one of India’s premier bio innovation hubs, C-CAMP is intent on helping the country fight Covid-19 by scaling up several innovative technologies.

The oxygen concentrators utilise pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology, which can provide a portable and cost-effective method for providing medical oxygen.

The High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Oxygen therapy system is an all-in-one unit compatible with multiple patient interfaces, including protective continuous interfaces such as helmet/hood for CPAP.

Ramu Patchala, Executive Director, Huawei India, spoke about the initiative, saying, “As we start witnessing welcome signs of recovery in the second Covid-19 wave, it is important that we plan and provide for the future.”

“Huawei’s partnership with C-CAMP is aimed at strengthening the resource availability for future medical requirements.”

“In these trying times, we remain steadfast in our commitment to do whatever it takes to serve the people of India.” gasworld
