BSNL to enhance underground mobile coverage in UP metros

BSNL and UPMRC have initiated a project to improve underground mobile coverage for Metro users in Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra. The two companies on Wednesday signed an MoU in New Delhi. Naveen Kumar, director (rolling stock), UPMRC, attended the signing.

BSNL will make use of UPMRC’s In-Building Solution (IBS) infrastructure at all underground sections across Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra Metro, covering present and future projects.The collaboration is intended to improve mobile network coverage for passengers.

UPMRC managing director Sushil Kumar said: “Partnership with BSNL is in line with UPMRC’s goals to deliver efficient, safe and digitally enabled urban travel.”

Comprehensive network coverage across underground sections is seen as a step forward in improving public transport connectivity.” ToI
