BSNL Q1 revenue rises 10% on enterprise, mobility gains

BSNL’s revenue from operations in the first quarter of FY27 has risen by about 10% year‑on‑year to approximately Rs 4,418 crore, largely on the back of stronger enterprise and consumer mobility business. The unaudited numbers for the April–June quarter indicate that the state-run operator is beginning to see tangible gains from its ongoing turnaround efforts, backed by government support in the form of capital infusion, spectrum allocation and 4G rollout assistance.economictimes+1

According to statements from the government, BSNL’s enterprise segment, which serves government departments and large corporate clients with data, connectivity and managed services, has emerged as the main growth driver in this quarter and continues to account for a significant share of the company’s revenue. Consumer mobility, including mobile and broadband services, has also shown improvement, with better monetisation and usage trends contributing to the 10% uptick in operating revenue. Average revenue per user for mobility has reportedly improved to a little over Rs 100, signalling a steady rise in per-subscriber realisation even as BSNL works to upgrade its networks and expand 4G offerings.economictimes+3

The reported figures are provisional and unaudited, and they primarily reflect revenue from operations rather than overall profitability metrics such as net profit or EBITDA. Even so, the Q1 performance will be closely tracked by industry observers as a key indicator of whether the PSU’s revival strategy—anchored in enterprise connectivity, fibre-to-the-home services and mobile expansion—can translate into sustained growth in a highly competitive telecom market dominated by private players. If you tell me your target word count and preferred emphasis (turnaround story, enterprise focus, or policy angle), I can turn this into a ready-to-use news copy for your next issue.
