AITUC Backs Unpaid BSNL Contract Staff

Over 500 contract workers employed with BSNL in Goa have not been paid their salaries for three months, putting them and their families through an “extremely painful” situation, said All India Trade Union Congress general secretary Christopher Fonseca.

AITUC plans to “unleash an indefinite agitation” as part of a “decisive struggle” to ensure that all BSNL workers employed through contractors are brought on the permanent rolls of BSNL and are made eligible to the same service conditions as permanent employees of BSNL. “The permanent staff and officers employed directly by BSNL have been paid up to date salaries,” said Fonseca.―Times of India
