APPOINTED

Harsh Marwah has been appointed as country manager, India region, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.

Punit Garg, president, telecom business, RCom has been elevated to the board as executive director of the company. Manikantan V, chief financial officer (CFO) has also been elevated to the board as director and CFO of the company. Suresh Rangachar, who heads the fiber and tower business as director of Reliance Infratel Limited (RITL), has been appointed as executive director of RITL. Gurdeep Singh, Co-CEO of the company and CEO of the mobility business, has been elevated as executive director of Reliance Telecom Limited.

Sandeep Bhushan has been named as the interim managing director, Facebook. He replaces Umang Bedi.

Sivaramkrishnan Ganapathi, who until recently was the COO of Idea Cellular, has joined troubled apparel maker Gokaldas Exports as its managing director.

Samsung Electronics named Kim Ki-nam, president of semiconductor business, as the new head of the components business, Koh Dong-jin as new head of IT and mobile communications, and Kim Hyun-suk as new head of consumer electronics. Current CFO Lee Sang-hoon would resign from his role as CFO and has been recommended as chairman of the board.

Suresh Sethi has been appointed as MD & CEO of India Post Payments Bank. He replaces AP Singh, who had held the post in the interim since January 2017.

Ted LeBlanc has been promoted to vice president of U.S. dealer sales of Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. The established industry executive and 10-year Toshiba employee previously served as the company’s east region director of sales. The company has also appointed Larry White its chief revenue officer. White had previously served as company’s senior vice president of sales for the Americas.

Bob Laskey has been appointed as regional head of Americas, Tata Communications. Laskey enters the role with over 20 years’ experience, having worked for CenturyLink, Microsoft, Oracle, and Accenture.

Archana Deskus has been appointed as global chief information officer of HPE.
Before joining HPE she was CIO at GE’s Baker Hughes oilfield services business. Prior to Baker Hughes, she held CIO roles at Ingersoll-Rand, Timex, and United Technologies Corporation.

Patrick O’Malley has been appointed as senior vice president and CFO, Avaya. David Vellequette, who has served as Avaya’s CFO for the past five years, will remain as senior vice president of finance until the end of 2017 to ensure a smooth transition. O’Malley joins Avaya following a 30-year career with Seagate Technology, where he served in a variety of roles, including as CFO from 2008 to 2015.

Steven Tan has been appointed as president of China Telecom Americas, the international subsidiary of the company formed in 2002.

Former Ericsson executive Rima Qureshi has been named as the new chief strategy officer for Verizon Communications. Qureshi replaces Roy Chestnutt, who has previously announced his departure in order to pursue interests outside Verizon.

RESIGNED

Derek Aberle, president, Qualcomm, has quit after a successful 17-year career.
