APPOINTED

Vodafone Group and Aditya Birla Group have appointed Balesh Sharma as the CEO of the merged entity to be created as the local units of the two telecom majors come together for the India market.

Debjani Ghosh, former Intel executive, has been appointed as president of Nasscom. She succeeds R Chandrashekhar, who is leaving office upon the completion of his term.

Sanjay Goel has been appointed as the president of global services and member of Group Leadership Team (GLT), Nokia. He succeeds Igor Leprince.

Gaurav Gandhi, currently head of Voot, has been appointed as director and country manager – India for Prime Video, Amazon.

Twitter has appointed Parag Agrawal as its chief technology officer. He succeeds Adam Messinger.

Rakesh Bhasin has been appointed as chairman of CMC Networks. Prior to joining CMC Networks, Bhasin served as the CEO of Colt Group SA.

Docomo Digital has appointed Dheeraj Soni as its new chief commercial officer to lead the OTT and Merchant-focused strategy, with payments platform services sitting at the heart of the company.

Miyuki Suzuki has been appointed as the new president for Asia-Pacific and Japan operations of Cisco. She takes over from Irving Tan, who has been appointed SVP of operations and digital.

Qualcomm Board has named Jeffrey W. Henderson, an independent director since 2016, to serve as non-executive chairman. Dr Paul E. Jacobs will continue to serve on the Qualcomm Board, but will no longer serve in an executive management capacity.

BT has appointed Hila Meller to the position of vice president for security. Meller replaces Luke Beeson.

K. Bhaskhar, VP, Canon India has been elected as chairman for the CII Office Automation & Imaging Division.

PROMOTED

Sunil Nayyar has been promoted as managing director of Sony India. Kenichiro Hibi, former managing director of Sony India, has now been appointed as president for Sony Brazil.

Kenichiro Yoshida has been promoted as CEO of Sony Corp. Kazuo Hirai will step down to become chairman of the company.

Sunil Raina has been promoted as president and business head of LAVA. Raina is currently working as CMO at the company.

BlackBerry Ltd, has extended executive chairman and chief executive John Chen’s contract by 5 years through November 2023.

Scott Petty has been promoted as CTO of Vodafone, UK. He will take over the position from current incumbent Jorge Fernandes.

Avaya has appointed Sheikha Naamah Al Qassimi as general manager for Dubai and the Northern Emirates region. An industry expert, Al Qassimi has held a number of senior roles at Avaya since joining in 2005.

RESIGNED

Bharti Airtel’s director of consumer business and chief marketing officer for its India operations, Raj Pudipeddi has resigned.

Narendra Nayak, managing director of BlackBerry India, has quit the company after a stint of over 2 years.

Munish Seth has stepped down as regional head-APAC for connectivity solutions of Facebook to pursue opportunities outside.
