The 30th Convergence India and 8th Smart Cities India expo is being jointly organised by the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), and Exhibitions India Group (EIG).
The opening ceremony will have Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. The occasion will also be graced by H.E. Ing. Karel Hirman, Minister of Economy, Slovak Republic and Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO, Invest India.
The 3-day expo is a celebration of India’s rising influence as a global digital powerhouse and a display of the emerging modernisation and development landscape of the country. 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of Convergence India – a three-decade journey that mirrors India’s as it emerges as a global powerhouse and a force for good in this world.
Over the years, the expo has become the congregating venue for leaders in government and industry, as they focus on creating a modern India inspired by the landmark initiatives of the Prime Minister, such as Digital India, Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Start-Up India, the Smart Cities Mission, Swachh Bharat, Jal Jeevan Mission, and other associated missions.
This year, the expo will see 1,000 participants showcase cutting-edge innovations from 30 countries, with an expected footfall of 50,000 visitors. 50 conference sessions will be held concurrently, during which Union and State governments, industry, think tanks and academia will debate issues relating to India’s digital revolution and overall development in order to drive better citizen-centric services across our cities.
An exclusive Startup Hub Pavilion will feature over 200 startups, showcasing innovations across the different verticals of emerging technologies. There will be mentoring sessions from the pioneers of the ecosystem, specially curated conference sessions, Startup Pitch Competitions, Investor & Startup meets, and the highly popular Smart City & Fintech Innovation Awards, all of which will work to catapult this ecosystem to the next level.
Sharing her views about the expo, Chandrika Behl, Managing Director, Exhibitions India Group, said, “For years, Convergence India has been leading the digital revolution in India from the forefront. During this journey, we have provided an international platform for Indian industry to grow, contribute towards nation-building, and emerge as a bright spot in the global arena. As we celebrate 30 glorious years, the expo has become synonymous with ‘Brand India’ while leveraging Industry 4.0 to build a ‘Digital and Smart India.’ Meanwhile, the Smart Cities India expo has emerged as a unique world-class platform that brings together the different components of a smart city and provides an excellent opportunity for the associated sectors to converge and explore new opportunities. We’re confident that by bringing all the stakeholders on the same platform, we can facilitate growth, unlock opportunity and put the spotlight on everything that’s smart and sustainable.”
