Xiaomi To Drop Software Support For These Smartphones

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi usually offers timely MIUI updates to its devices. The company has a good track record in rolling out updates for smartphones which are 4 to 5 years old. At the time of MIUI 9 — its own custom UI — launch the company stated the fact that 5-year-old Xiaomi smartphones, the Mi 2 and Mi 2S will also get the MIUI 9 update.

Last year the company announced that it is dropping the software support some smartphones. Now, the company has given a list of devices will not receive MIUI 11 update. The list also include the 2016 flagship smartphone of the company — Mi 5. Apart from the Mi 5, the other Xiaomi smartphones which will not receive MIUI 11 are Redmi Note 3, Mi 4, Mi 4C and the Mi 4S. The company also mentions that all these smartphones will receive MIUI 10.2 as the last update which will be released by January next year.

Presently, the company has announced the discontinuation of all the software update for these smartphones in China only. However, it is expected that the same will be followed in case of the global versions as well.

Xiaomi is all set to launch its latest budget smartphone in India. The company will be launching the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro in the country on November 22. Successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the smartphone will be exclusively available on Flipkart and will go on sale on November 23. The HDFC bank customers will get additional offer on the purchase of the smartphone.

As confirmed by the company the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro will come with a quad camera setup. The smartphone will consist of two rear and two front cameras. Apart from this, it will also be the first Redmi series smartphone to come with a notch screen.  – gadgetsnow
