Wistron plans ₹1,000 crore IT hardware plant in Telangana

Wistron, a major Taiwanese contract electronics manufacturer, is planning a ₹1,000 crore investment to establish an IT hardware manufacturing facility in Telangana. The company is in the process of selecting a site in Hyderabad, aiming to build a plant focused on producing servers, routers, and switches—not iPhones. Wistron previously exited iPhone assembly in India by selling its Kolar facility to Tata Electronics in 2023.

This prospective Telangana facility represents a broader Indian strategy for Wistron, which also includes a separate ₹1,450 crore laptop manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. The exact location within or near Hyderabad’s electronics hubs has yet to be finalized.

Currently, Wistron operates in India via several subsidiaries that handle a range of electronics products, automotive electronics, IoT platforms, and related import-export services. The planned expansion highlights Wistron’s commitment to growing its presence in India’s electronics manufacturing sector and diversifying its product lines beyond smartphones.
