Vodafone Germany rolled out 1.5m gigabit broadband connections in 2021

In a few weeks the year 2021 will draw to a close. 12 months in which a lot has happened and Vodafone Germany made it a lot faster. With more than 1,000 network expansion and modernization measures, the Düsseldorf-based digitization group has created 1.5 million new gigabit connections for citizens and companies throughout Germany this year alone. With a total of 23.6 million high-speed connections, Vodafone is the operator of by far the largest gigabit-capable network infrastructure and thus the engine for growth, jobs and prosperity in all of Germany.

Vodafone Germany boss Hannes Ametsreiter: “We have trimmed Germany to top speed and made it a gigabit republic. The gigabit is part of everyday life today. Never before has top speed been so cheap for so many. To date we have built 23.6 million gigabit connections. But we’re not satisfied with that – we’re continuing to build. And ensure that Germany will have the most gigabit connections in Europe by 2022. ”

In this year alone, Vodafone has created 1.5 million new gigabit-enabled Internet connections with more than 1,000 expansion and modernization measures in its nationwide cable fiber optic network. This brings the total to 23.6 million. 96 percent of the cable fiber optic network has been modernized – by the end of 2022 it will be almost 100 percent.

In total, around 60% of Germans can now access speeds of up to 1Gbps from Vodafone. In addition, more than 40,000 companies in 600 industrial parks can book gigabit fibre-optic connections, with a further 20,000 businesses set to be added to the footprint in the future. CT Bureau
