VMware to launch special purpose acquisition company to spur continued growth

VMware announced today that Shekar Ayyar, executive vice president and general manager, VMware Telco and Edge Cloud, is filing a Registration Statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in connection with AdMY Technologies, Inc., an independent special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). AdMY intends to invest in telco, 5G and edge areas and businesses that are expected to have objectives that are complementary with VMware’s telco and edge strategy.

While AdMY is independent from VMware, Ayyar expects to continue to work through the SPAC to identify opportunities to work with VMware’s telco and edge ecosystem. Ayyar will continue to serve as a special advisor to Zane Rowe, VMware’s interim CEO, through the second quarter of the company’s fiscal year 2022.

Ayyar stated, “I am very pleased to announce the formation and launch of AdMY. This acquisition vehicle structure will greatly enhance the ability to identify, target and invest in candidates within the telco, 5G and edge industry. This is an exciting time for the telecommunications industry.”

VMware continues to grow its investments to accelerate innovation for the telco and communication service provider (CSP) industries. As Ayyar transitions to focus on AdMY, Sanjay Uppal, a veteran of the communications industry, will expand his current role as SVP and general manager, VMware SD-WAN, to lead VMware’s Telco and Distributed Edge business.
