TriMob Selling Its Network Equipment

Ukrtelecom’s mobile operating subsidiary TriMob is auctioning off all its network equipment which it recently deactivated in all Ukrainian regions except the city of Kiev, reports Liga.tech. TriMob had more than 1,700 3G base stations in operation before taking the decision to radically scale back its operations at the end of 2019; reportedly just 49 base stations will remain active in Kiev.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, TriMob now relies mainly on 2G/3G national roaming via the network of Vodafone Ukraine, while continuing to host MVNO Lycamobile Ukraine, users of which also have access to Vodafone Ukraine roaming services. Upon returning most of its countrywide 3G UMTS mobile frequencies to the regulatory authorities, TriMob was issued a new spectrum operating licence on 28 December 2019 with an unchanged expiry date of 14 December 2020, while it continues to hold a nationwide mobile service permit (independent of frequencies) valid until the same date.
