TRAI extends deadline for stakeholder input on 5G digital transformation

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had sought comments / counter-comments of stakeholders on the Consultation Paper on “Digital Transformation through 5G Ecosystem” dated 29th September 2023. The last date for receiving written comments and counter-comments from the stakeholders was initially fixed as 30th October 2023 and 13th November 2023 respectively, which have been extended twice. The last date for submission of written comments was 26th December 2023 and that for counter-comments is 8th January, 2024.

TRAIhas received requests from Industry Associations for further extension of timeline for submission of comments citing various reasons like difficulty in collecting the inputs from their members due to Christmas and Newyear. They have also mentioned that Indian Parliament has passed the new Telecom Bill-2023 very recently, so the comments need to be updated accordingly.

Keeping in view the requests of stakeholders, it has been decided to extend the last date for submission of written comments up to 22nd January 2024 and for counter-comments up to 05th February 2024.
