Telekom Malaysia has announced that it has no specific date to introduce 5G for Unifi Mobile customers.
In a Jan 16 statement, TM said the company is still performing tests for its 5G service.
“Our goal is to provide unifi Mobile customers the best 5G experience we can offer. As such, we are currently doing extensive internal testing on our 5G service. At this point of time, we are unable to provide the actual date for customer trials,” the statement reads.
This comes after local tech portals spotted a promotional message stating that the company will be introducing 5G to Unifi Mobile customers in February.
The information posted on the Unifi Mobile Postpaid page has been updated to reflect a non-specific availability.
Unifi Mobile monthly postpaid plans range from RM19 to RM59 with data offerings from 2GB to 10GB. The company is urging more to subscribe to “enjoy 5G data soon”.
Currently, Yes is the only telco offering 5G mobile plans starting from RM30 per month. The company announced that it is providing unlimited 5G access to subscribers until March 31 through the Yes FT5G plan.
In Malaysia, 5G services are only available at selected locations within Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur.
