Reliance Jio successfully tests 5G services in Delhi

Reliance Jio has successfully tested its 5G services and achieved high data speeds using both the 26 GHz (mmWave) and 3300 MHz spectrum bands in the Delhi licensed service area. The testing was conductedthe Department of Telecommunications’ Delhi service area wing to verify Reliance Jio’s minimum rollout obligations.

The testing took place on August 7th and 8th, and Reliance Jio has fulfilled its minimum rollout obligations for 5G deployment within the first year of acquiring spectrum in the July 2022 auctions. The company has also submitted the necessary applications to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

Similar tests were conducted in other service areas, including Mumbai, Gujarat, and Kolkata. Bharti Airtel, another major telecom operator, has also completed its minimum rollout obligations for the first year of 5G deployment and is undergoing testingthe DoT.

Airtel and Jio launched their 5G services in October 2022 and have been expanding their coverage rapidly. In the 5G spectrum sale last year, Airtel acquired a significant amount of bandwidth but did not purchase spectrum in the 700 MHz band. On the other hand, Jio acquired 5G spectrum in all three bands available for sale.

These successful tests indicate the progress being made in the 5G rollout in India. Both Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are committed to providing high-speed and reliable 5G services to their customers, and these tests mark an important milestone in achieving that goal. Opp Today
