Rakuten Mobile, Tokyo Institute of Technology establish research center

Rakuten Mobile Inc. and the National University Corporation Tokyo Institute of Technology will establish the “Rakuten Mobile Next Generation Edge Computing Network Collaborative Research Center”.

This collaborative research base will conduct research on use case development utilizing 5G and multi-access edge computing (MEC) platforms with the aim of creating new customer value. It will also conduct cross-disciplinary research activities using the organization of the Institute for Super Smart Society and demonstration experiments at Tokyo Institute of Technology and its surrounding environment. The centre will contribute to solving social issues and develop new services.

Rakuten Mobile and the Tokyo Institute of Technology have been promoting various initiatives such as research and development utilizing 5G since March 2021.
