MTS, Ericsson Launch Industrial 5G Network At Kamaz Automotive Plant

Russian mobile opertor MTS, in cooperation with Ericsson, has deployed an industrial 5G area on a private LTE network in the automotive plant Kamaz in the city of Naberezhnye-Chelny in Tatarstan. 5G and LTE technologies will be used for optimisation of industrial processes.

The private network at the plant supports both 5G and LTE technologies. The maximum speed on the LTE network reached 46 Mbps during testing, and the figure was 870 Mbps on the 5G network. The use of the LTE 2,100 MHz band helped boost the coverage of the 5G base station on the 28 GHz band.

The Ericsson Baseband 5216, Ericsson Radio 2219 2100 МHz, Ericsson Baseband 6630 and Ericsson AIR 5121 28,000 МHz equipment was used for the network.

MTS, in cooperation with Ericsson, has also deployed the Smart City Pole at the technology park Innopolis in Tatarstan.―Telecompaper
