In advance of Apple’s iPhone 15 announcement

In advance of Apple’s iPhone 15 launch tomorrow, please see the market observations below from IDC’s Nabila Popal.

With #iPhone15 launch tomorrow at #AppleEvent, iOS is set to reach its highest share of the WW #smartphone market this year at 20%. @IDC forecasts shipments of #Android will decline 6% YoY in 2023 while #iOS will grow by 1%.

With 22% share in first half of 2023, China is becoming as big a market for @Apple as the US, at 26% for the same time period. A big difference in gap from 2019, per @IDC data.

Premium smartphones have grown 10pts to 20% share since 2019 of total SP market. Within that, @Apple’s gained 8pts to a dominant 71% share. Success of Pro/ProMax have helped Apple while @SamsungMobile is trying hard to regain lost ground with #GalaxyZFold5 & #GalaxyZFlip5.
