ICRA Comments On Monthly Data for Telecom Sector

“The active wireless subscriber base in the country increased to 1,022 million by end of October 2018, witnessing addition of 8.6 million subscribers during the month. This growth was led by RJio and Bharti, which added 8.5 million and 3.4 million active subscribers respectively, at the expense of other operators. For RJio, this was the fourth consecutive month of highest active subscriber addition in the industry, overall adding over 56 million active subscribers during the current fiscal. Nevertheless, Vodafone-Idea lead the active subscriber market share at 39%, followed by Bharti at 33% and RJio at 21% as of October 2018. Continued adoption of wireless broadband meant that this sub-segment maintained strong growth trajectory, with subscriber base now at 41% of the total wireless subscribers.
