Huawei May Enter Tablet Market In India, Renders Of First Tablet Revealed

Huawei has expressed its desire to expand its product portfolio in India in the past. Since re-entering the country with the P20 series last year, the company has not only been quick to launch its latest smartphones, but has also expanded its lineup to include smartwatches as it launched the Watch GT earlier this year. Now, Huawei is looking to enter the tablet market in India to take on Apple and Samsung, at least that’s what is being suggested by tipster Ishan Agarwal.

In a tweet on Monday, Agarwal said that Huawei is gearing up to launch its first tablet in India. While the tipster did not provide a name for the Huawei tablet, he did post renders of what the tablet looks like and it bears an uncanny resemblance to the old MediaPad T3 10. To recall, Huawei launched the MediaPad T3 10 back in 2017 following which Honor brought the same tablet under its own name in India priced at Rs 14,999.

The renders posted by Agarwal could suggest an updated MediaPad T3, but there is no way to know for sure. It could launch in India under a different name altogether and with upgraded specs. Until Huawei mentions something about its tablet plans for India, it is best to take this report with a pinch of salt. The 2017 MediaPad T3, to recall, offered a 9.6-inch HD display and was powered by a Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with up to 3GB of RAM. The Honor MediaPad T3 10 was launched running on Android Nougat EMUI 5.1 on top.

Earlier this month, Honor launched two new Android tablets in India, the 8-inch Honor Pad 5 and the 10.1-inch Honor Pad 5. These tablets highlight FHD displays, dual stereo speakers and 4G LTE support, among other things.

The entry of Huawei will mean more Android tablet options for Indian consumers. At the present moment, the Android tablet market in India is being shared majorly by Lenovo, Samsung and iBall. Apple’s iPads, on the other hand, are iOS-based tablets that account for around 9 percent of the total market share in India.―India Today
