Huawei Mate Xs May Launch In India Soon, Company Teases

Huawei Mate Xs foldable phone was officially unveiled back in February as a refresher to the Mate X that was launched in 2019. Now, a month later, the Chinese brand has started teasing the launch of the Huawei Mate Xs in India through the official Huawei India Twitter handle. While detailing the quad-camera details of the phone and 5G capability, Huawei also says that it “is here to unfold a new chapter of smartphones with the #HuaweiMateXs5G.” This suggests the Huawei Mate Xs India launch could be nearing as the company looks to take on foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and the Motorola Razr (2019). Unfortunately, Huawei hasn’t mentioned a timeline or any other specific details about its launch just yet.

Huawei Mate Xs specifications

As for the specifications, the Huawei Mate Xs flaunts an 8-inch main display with 2,480 x 2,200 pixels resolution. This display folds outwards down the middle to offer two displays when folded, a 6.6-inch screen on the front with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio, and a 6.38-inch 25:9 screen on the back that can be used as a viewfinder for selfies. The foldable phone is powered by the Kirin 990 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. The phone runs Android 10 with EMUI 10 custom skin on top and Huawei Mobile Services.

As for the optics, the Huawei Mate Xs features quad-rear cameras consisting of a 40MP (f/1.8) SuperSensing primary wide sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 3D Time of Flight sensor. The rear cameras also double up as selfie snappers. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and a 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast charging support. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C.
