Flux Vision evolves in the service of sustainable issues

Orange Business announces the integration of new indicators into its population flow observation tool to measure the carbon footprint of the movement of people and goods.

Flux Vision, a solution developed by Orange Business, makes it possible to analyze in real time millions of technical information from anonymized data from Orange’s consumer mobile network. It converts them into reliable and precise statistical indicators to measure the use of a geographical area and the movement of populations. Flux Vision’s expertise is divided into three verticals: commerce, transport and tourism. With these new indicators, Orange Business continues to develop its portfolio of sustainable offers to support its customers in their environmental transition.

“Technology and innovation help meet the ecological, economic and social challenges of our time towards more sustainable activity. The Flux Vision solution is one of the many examples of our commitment to promoting sustainable environmental performance. Digital technology makes it possible to create and manage a lot of data, essential for measuring environmental performance. We are proud to support our customers by offering new services with reduced environmental impact, while continuing to develop existing ones. » declares Jérôme Goulard, Sustainable Development Director.

New indicators to extend the solution to CSR issues
To celebrate ten years of the product, Flux Vision is bringing together its key partners today around an event on the theme of “Data serving sustainable development issues” in Marseille. It aims to present its innovations and the positive impact of Flux Vision in making informed decisions for a sustainable future.

Flux Vision indicators are already used by our clients, for example to adopt intelligent public lighting by measuring attendance every 30 minutes or to justify and guide a waste prevention campaign on beaches by analyzing the attendance and origin of visitors.

Thanks to major innovations in the use of artificial intelligence, new indicators have been created to make it possible to measure, evaluate and determine effective actions to reduce the carbon footprint, in particular that of tourist trips or flows logistics.

To do this, Flux Vision has implemented artificial intelligence algorithms to associate the mode of transport used to get to an event by taking into account the speed of travel between each antenna of the Orange mobile network. These data are then combined with CO2 emission factors linked to each means of transport from the Empreinte ® Base. With travel volumes also measured by Flux Vision, this innovation constitutes a major turning point for stakeholders wishing to assess the environmental impact of human or goods travel.

Flux Vision: ten years serving tourism strategies
The Flux Vision solution originated from a collaboration with Provence Tourisme following the event “Marseille Provence, European Capital of Culture 2013” during which the observation of the The presence of the many visitors present at this event was then necessary. Faced with limited analysis tools, Provence Tourisme and Orange will then collaborate to individualize and collect data from Orange’s mobile network in real time while guaranteeing their anonymization.

Flux Vision is then officially launched as part of the signing of a framework contract with ADN Tourisme. Its objective was to offer a tool to collect and analyze the behavior of populations and transmit the data to the organization’s members.

Today, the contract with ADN Tourisme represents 78 clients, more than 1000 studies carried out since 2013 and 18 billion pieces of anonymized data processed per day.

“Flux Vision has become almost essential for tourist observatories. This solution makes it possible to achieve a very high level of reliability in the restitution of the nature and origin of population flows in the territory, in time and in space, contributing to strengthening local tourist observation. » comments Christel Berlingué, Observation and engineering project manager, ADN Tourisme.
