CyrusOne appoints new CIO

CyrusOne has appointed Krishna Seetharam as its new CIO.

The company this week hired Krishna Seetharam as the company’s new Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer and promoted Bob Crespi as Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management.

In his new role, Krishna will lead the overall IT strategy for the company, with a focus on the optimization of internal operations, external customer experience, and digital transformation initiatives.

Seetharam previously served as vice president and CIO for National Grid’s New York business unit. Before that, he held various roles at General Electric, including vice president of data and analytics for GE Power.

CyrusOne previously appointed Bill Williams as CIO in July 2019, having taken over the role from Blake Harris. Williams had been at the company since 2012, and was previously vice president of IP infrastructure for Terremark Worldwide.

“I am excited to join the CyrusOne team as CIO, as we accelerate our digital transformation strategy for customers and our company,” said Seetharam. “I look forward to working closely with the global leadership team to help build upon CyrusOne’s sterling reputation as a leading data center company.”

Crespi will be responsible for the development and execution of the asset and portfolio management strategies to optimize the financial performance of the company’s data centers. He joined CyrusOne in 2015 after the company acquired Cervalis, where he had worked since 2000 and was CIO at the time of the buyout.

“It is a privilege to lead CyrusOne’s asset and portfolio strategy as we continue to expand in the industry,” said Crespi. “I’m thrilled to be part of this dynamic group as we take the company to new heights.”

“With Krishna joining our team and Bob taking on this strategic new role, we strengthen and deepen our leadership bench,” said John Hatem, Executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer at CyrusOne. “With decades of front-line experience, Krishna and Bob will help accelerate our digital transformation initiatives and I look forward to working closely with them as we set the course for our company.”

In September CyrusOne appointed Equinix’s former head of strategy Eric Schwartz as CEO, following a tumultuous period in which several people stepped in and out of the CEO role. Gary Wojtaszek stepped down as CEO in February 2020 “by mutual agreement with the Board” and saw a rotating cast of execs take over in his wake. Tesh Durvasula initially stepped in as interim CEO, before Bruce Duncan took on the role. Duncan then left just over a year later, with company co-founder and former CEO David Ferdman taking over as interim CEO.

Earlier this year KKR & Global Infrastructure Partners closed on their acquisition of CyrusOne, taking the company private in a $15 billion deal. Data Center Dynamics
