China’s fixed communications revenue poised to reach $47.6B by 2030
The total fixed communications services revenue in China is forecast to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.3%, from $42.4 billion in 2025 to $47.6 billion in 2030, supported by the fixed broadband services segment, according to GlobalData, a leading intelligence and productivity platform.
GlobalData’s China Fixed Communication Forecast (Q1 2026) reveals that the country’s fixed voice services revenue will decline at a CAGR of 1.4% over 2025-30, owing to a consumer shift from traditional telephony to mobile/over-the-top (OTT)-based communication services and the subsequent decline in voice service average revenue per user (ARPU) levels.
Fixed broadband services revenue, on the other hand, will increase at a CAGR of 2.3% during the forecast period, driven by the high adoption of fiber-to-the-home/building (FTTH/B) services, especially premium FTTH plans that yield higher ARPU for operators.
Pradeepthi Kantipudi, Telecom Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Fiber will remain the leading broadband technology in terms of subscription share through the forecast period, driven by the government’s support for expansion and improvement of fiber network infrastructure in the country. Fiber broadband currently dominates the fixed broadband market, and with continued momentum, the country is expected to see fiber-only broadband market by the end of 2030.”
China’s ongoing efforts to accelerate next-generation broadband infrastructure, including gigabit broadband upgrades and 10G optical network deployments, are expected to further boost premium fiber broadband service adoption across both residential and enterprise segments. China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported in May 2026 that the country already has over 32 million 10G PON ports capable of delivering 10-gigabit broadband services to homes.
For instance, in February 2026, China Unicom and Huawei launched a 10G broadband network in Sunan County, Hebei Province, based on 50G-PON technology, delivering speeds of up to 10Gbps and highlighting China’s continued push toward next-generation fiber infrastructure and multi-gigabit broadband services.
China Mobile will lead the fixed broadband services market in 2025, by subscription share, followed by China Telecom and China Unicom. China Mobile will maintain its leadership in the market through 2030, driven by its strong position in the FTTH segment and a focus on upgrading gigabit broadband network across the country. The company’s move to integrate advanced technologies, such as AI-driven network management and 10G PON deployments, has enhanced service quality and customer satisfaction.
Kantipudi concludes: “As service differentiation increasingly relies on network performance, reliability, and bundled digital services, operators that pay attention to customer experience while optimizing operational efficiency will lead the next wave of China’s fixed broadband growth.” GlobalData
