China, US, UAE conduct first joint anti-fraud operation in Dubai

Police forces from China, the United States and the United Arab Emirates have completed their first joint cross‑border operation targeting telecom and online fraud networks in Dubai, China’s Ministry of Public Security announced on Sunday. According to the ministry, the coordinated action led to the dismantling of nine suspected scam centres and the arrest of 276 individuals believed to be involved in fraudulent activities.

Investigators found that the groups allegedly approached victims through social media platforms, cultivating fictitious romantic relationships to build trust. Once rapport had been established, victims were persuaded to invest in purported high‑yield cryptocurrency schemes, resulting in substantial financial losses.

A ministry official described the operation as a significant milestone in China’s efforts to strengthen international law enforcement collaboration.

The official added that Chinese authorities would continue to expand practical cooperation with overseas partners, pursue joint enforcement actions and work to dismantle telecom fraud operations, while striving to bring suspects to justice and protect the lawful rights and interests of citizens worldwide.
