DC Srinagar chairs telecom committee meeting, reviews JKCCIP progress
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, chaired a meeting of the District Telecom Committee (DTC) at the DC Office to review the development of telecom infrastructure under the Jammu & Kashmir Communication and Connectivity Infrastructure Project (JKCCIP).
The meeting was attended by senior district officials including Additional District Development Commissioner Rifat Aftab Qureshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, and representatives of telecom companies operating in the district, among others.
The Committee deliberated on key issues including construction and commissioning of mobile towers, 4G network saturation, Right of Way (RoW) status, progress under the amended BharatNet Project, and 5G street furniture mapping.
DC Labroo stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination to ensure timely completion of telecom projects, urging that every panchayat be connected to its respective block to strengthen local governance and service delivery. He underscored the saturation of 4G coverage and BharatNet rollout as priorities critical to enhancing digital access across all communities.
“Improved connectivity is vital for effective governance, delivery of essential services, education and economic activities,” the DC stated, reiterating that stronger network coverage and signal quality are central to public welfare and district development.
The DC also sought direct feedback from telecom operators, urging enhanced service quality — particularly in remote and underserved areas of the district.
