MTNL appoints Papa Sudhakara Rao as Director (Technical)

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced the appointment of Papa Sudhakara Rao (ITS) as its new Director (Technical). Rao takes over the position from Dr. Kalyan Sagar Nippani, who was managing dual roles as Director (HR) at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Director (Technical) at MTNL.

Prior to this new role, Rao served as Director (Enterprise) at BSNL. With over 27 years of experience in the telecom sector, he has led operations across planning, development, installation, operation, maintenance, and commissioning of both core and access networks.

His technical proficiency covers a broad range of telecom technologies including Switching, Transmission, GSM, WCDMA, NGN, and LTE systems.

An alumnus of Andhra University College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam, Rao graduated with a B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunications in 1993, earning first-class distinction. He joined the Indian Telecommunication Services (ITS) in 1994 and began his career with the Department of Telecommunications in February 1996 as an Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADET).
