651 cell towers to be set up in Agency areas of Alluri, AP by Jio

Senior Field Engineer of Jio Satyakanth informed the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Paderu, Project Officer, R. Gopala Krishna, that they have started the survey to set up Jio cell towers in the Agency areas of Alluri Sitharamaraju district, from Monday. He said that as many as 651 towers will be set up in the Agency area by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF).

The ITDA Project Officer held a meeting with the engineers of Jio at his office, here on Monday. Satyakanth said that they would identify places which do not have mobile signal connectivity. “To set up one tower, we would conduct signal testing at 20 places. It would cost about ₹72 lakh to ₹80 lakh to set up a tower,” he added.

Gopala Krishna informed about the problems being faced by the tribals due to lack of mobile connectivity. He said that the ITDA would extend its complete support to the survey. He also asked the officials to take a decision consulting the Sarpanches of Grama Panchayats before setting up towers in villages.
