5G service to be rolled out in Odisha in first phase

The 5G service for providing telecom networks will be launched in Odisha in the first phase, Union Minister of Telecommunication Ashiwini Kumar Vaishnaw said on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a training camp of party workers on the concluding day, said the department of Telecommunication is working to roll out the 5G service soon and it would be launched in Odisha in the first phase.

Earlier it was said the 5G service would be launched in 13 cities of the country in the first phase and none of the cities Odisha figured in it.

Replying to a question, the Union Minister allayed the apprehension that the service would have high radiation impact.

He appealed to people not to pay any heed to it and said the radiation would be ten times less than the norms fixed by the World Health Organization.

Experts said once launched the 5G is expected to provide service 10 times faster than 4G and 30 times faster than 3G. UNI India
