Vibrant Gujarat Summit to focus on semiconductors, space tech

Apart from conventional sectors like chemicals, textiles and automobiles, the tenth edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 will focus on emerging manufacturing sectors like Green Hydrogen, semiconductors, space technology manufacturing and electric vehicles, a senior state government official said.

“This year’s summit will focus on sector-specific industrial parks with specialised infrastructure for sectors like medical devices, textiles, bulk drugs, vehicle scrappage, ceramics and jewellery,” Rahul Gupta, Managing Director, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), said.

According to him, the focus on specific infrastructure is necessary because the development of general infrastructure like roads, railways, water drainage system and street lights do not fully fulfill the needs of specific industries. For instance, he said, the chemical industry needs common steam facilities, fermentation services, and effluent treatment plants. Such common infrastructure reduces the cost of production and helps the industry to become competitive in national and international markets.

“We have significant investment commitments for the development of the Green Hydrogen ecosystem in the state. During our last delegation visit to European Countries three B2B MoUs were signed with the companies in these countries. These MoUs include B2B MoUs by Welspun Group and Kiri Industries with German companies,” he said.

A delegation led by state chief minister Bhupendra Patel will be visiting Japan and Singapore from November 26 to December 2, 2023. As many as 13 partner countries including Australia, Japan, Denmark, Morocco and Netherlands have already confirmed to participate in the summit. Financial Express
